I love heavy rock music with fat, beefy riffs and a bottom end laden with depth. I love punk rock energy and attitude. Saurian, from Dunedin, brings all of the above here, so yay! says I! YAY!!!
This single, Sheep’s Clothing, is about losing one’s grip on an emotional relationship. Well considered lyrics are supported unbelievably well with some jaw-droppingly professional musicianship. A rhythm section with a deep, expertly engineered and produced full sound at Kurow’s Sublime Studios by Steve Harrop and Tom Havard, the lead guitar and lead vocal add the coup de grace and blow your head off.
100% of this is class. The mastering, the musicianship, the arrangement, everything. Stand out for me is Karl Brinsdon‘s vocal performance, which is one moment Dave Grohl, one moment James Hetfield, one moment the bloke from Offspring. That’s nothing short of an absolute compliment, because it amounts to 100% Saurian. This is no tribute sound. This is how these guys sound.
This band rocks, and you need this song if you like metal, rock, punk, indie, alternative. Any number of genres are served here by a unique band demonstrably on top of their game. Dunners has produced yet another quality act, so well done to the deep South. A really well thought-out, crafted song that has undoubtedly turned out how the band intended.
To be enjoyed live, on a roadie, in the pub, in the cans while out for a walk, run or commuting. I’ve found another for my high rotation Spotify list. Play it LOUD!
