Wellington-local but proud native of the Philippines, Jeline is an artist with an incredible set of pipes! This was the first thing I noticed when I started listening to this number. This lady brings it from somewhere way down deep, and then goes a little further. With an impressive array of octaves, she’s absolutely fabulous in a mezzo-soprano performance here.

Time Stops is about love at first sight, and the really groovy, indie feel to the video accompanying the release is sooooo Wellington! Produced by Jeline and Jack Hegarty, this song came together after they’d decided to call time and take a break from composing. I’m glad they did that – this song is nothing short of awesome.

With a lively rhythm section that doesn’t drown out the rest of the song, cleverly subtle yet layered guitars and some groovy, jazzy pop overlays, Jeline gives us a dream-pop/indie belter. Her vocal performance surprised me. For a visually petite young lady, her timbre is off the scale in power. I like her overall visual style: indie and free with her clothing nd demeanour. Very good singer, and evidently a very good songwriter.

If you are a fan of the immeasurably talented Amelia Murray aka Fazerdaze, you will enjoy listening to this song. It’s a very catchy single, written to be sweet but not sugary. It’s firmly in the realms of indie pop, and the mix at Massey University, Wellington, followed by the mastering at Jpec‘s studio in Auckland, has captured the ethereal, blissful essence of the message. Great instrumentation, that inescapably feel-good jazziness to it, this really needs to be played all over the place.

Jeline is a star in waiting. She’s a proud Filipino. The Philippines should be proud of her too. Check out her socials and pick this one up on Spotify and YouTube. You’re going to love this. I did.
