Mɪnɪmʌɪz

The uncertainty of 2020 became pivotal in defining the birth of Mɪnɪmʌɪz.
Worn by daily life, a corporate career that never felt right and anxiety to grind
away the night, much time was spent looking inwards.
Music laid down the tapestry to Mɪnɪmʌɪz life. No genre was off limits while his
sometimes chaotic but never boring life took many twists and turns.
2012, an outpouring of emotion over a friend’s hi-fi system spawned an audiophile
obsession. Every spare minute was spent understanding every element of sound
reproduction.

Unbeknownst to Mɪnɪmʌɪz, this was laying the foundation for what was to
become.
It was December 2020 while watching his daughter’s rendition of Lewis Capaldi’s –
“Someone You Love” at Jam Nite that ignited something.

Jan 21 Mɪnɪmʌɪz took up bass guitar and obsessively spent every spare second
learning his craft and performing Jam Nite’s with his daughter at Eliette’s Music
Academy. In 2022 he started learning music production in Ableton and at this
point he knew he wanted to write original material. An inner voice was showing
signs of a paradigm shift. One morning his daughter needed to write a song for
holiday program so Mɪnɪmʌɪz decided to pick up a pen and give it a go. The
moment that pen touched the paper a fire was lit. The next month was spent
writing in such a frenzied fashion, it was otherworldy.

“There were days where I was literally shaking with this outpouring of creative
energy. It was raw, it was confronting but it was also an amazing experience”
Mɪnɪmʌɪz was guided through this process by Moses Sulusi, his bass and
production teacher at the time.

“I was texting Mo telling him how freaked out I was by the outpouring of lyrics and
melodies. We spent my lessons learning how to craft the songs. I didn’t even know
how to record a clip into Ableton 18 months ago. Mo was key in helping me to
develop my own songwriting style without any external influence. It was truly
organic”
