Just listened to the title track from this new E.P, released by UK band The Moons Of Jupiter. As we review New Zealand music, this isn’t going into the reviews library, but if you like your music to be something akin to dark 80s electronica with a touch of early New Romantic, then this is for you. A vocal timbre very much reminiscent of Phil Oakey, with accompanying Human League/Depeche Mode synth tracking, done very well indeed and sounding like a 2023 doffing of the cap to that era (which just happens to be one of my favourite eras too!) and not a throwback or retro homage. Give it a listen if you’re a Goth, techno, retro-techno, or one of the aforementioned 80s dark electronica or New Romantic fans.
