Rowdy’s Rose – Shooting Star video release

Normally I would add a retrospective vid review to the single I’d reviewed earlier. This one I decided to do a stand-alone vid review, because it’s gorgeous.

Rowdy’s Rose and Rosie and Blair Shaw, and the single was released a few short months ago. The review for it is elsewhere on this site, so go look at what I said there about the recorded work. This is about the vid.

The duo has delivered a really nicely lit, uncomplicated (as I like them) vid, set in rural Aotearoa and featuring the two band members in on-set performance shots or with scene views. We’ve got easy glide camera work, no Mad Max copycats behind the lens here – which is good, because it’s a gentle, tender Country song.

Rosie and Blair look every bit the part, and every bit comfortable in front of the camera. This is a really apt, nice piece of work for the song and its meaning. The interspersion of family photos give you some idea of that, if you haven’t popped another window open to read the review of the record yet (you slovenly lot, you!).

Very well done Rowdy’s Rose. This is good work, and we should see it on Juice, as the quality is up to standard for the quality of the work it’ adding visual to. Go take a look; it’s on YouTube.
