The Transits – Bleed Hope

HOW do these guys keep doing this to me??? The Transits are Ryan Lunn, Tyrone Smith and Dom Antelme – and they have yet to provide me with a single that doesn’t make it onto my own personal Spotify playlist.

This band consistently finds a soaring chorus to accompany a grower of a verse, over a roaring mix that together becomes what I can only describe as an anthem. Literally every song. Latest single Bleed Hope is out now, and according to Ryan in the EPK:

Bleed Hope is about finding strength in vulnerability. It’s about carrying light even when it feels like everything around you is fading.”

Ryan did the production and studio work at Echolake Studios, over in South Africa. Recording was done in SA and over here in Aotearoa. The instrumentation is a delight for anyone who likes a big production made from classic instrumentation: a gentle synth that drops straight into absolutely monstrous guitars and rhythm section in tight unison. As mentioned above, The Transits have an unreal ability to find an ear worm that’s both commercially viable and stadium-ready for the air-punching anthems that the big venues need.

As I type I am still humming the melody as the chorus bangs around my head. The orchestration is right up my alley – some thundering rock guitar, played in stop/start at points, power chords at points, riffing and subtle sonics adding layers. The bottom end is as always tighter than my old man when it was his round, and is rich and full. That vocal is gravelly and raucous, joyously delivering the goods.

The video, on YouTube now, is absolutely cool – as every Transits video turns out to be – thoroughly entertaining and perfect for the song it accompanies. I’ll not give away the concept, as I want you to go look at it on YouTube, but I have to congratulate the guys on the idea, and the filming unit on pulling it off. The lighting, outfits, the screenplay, choreography – runs really well and is perfect for the song. The number of folk that have already checked it out is already in six figures, so I’m not alone in my gushing fandom!

This is definitely going to keep the momentum going for this band. What a brilliant number! I’m looking forward to their next one, which rumour has it isn’t too far away. Exciteeeeed!

What makes you think I love The Transits? What gave it away? Come on, what?
