How does this band keep doing this??? Somebody tell me?
If I ever get the chance to see The Transits live I will be down the front, roaring at the top of my lungs to rock anthem after rock anthem. Messrs. Lunn, Antelme and Smith have got the writing, performing, recording and visualising of their chosen field down to a fine art. And they keep on doing it well.
Empty Room is the second single from the album Bleed Hope. We have a slight reduction in tempo but no reduction in energy and commercial pazazz from the three piece that spans the Southern Hemisphere from Aotearoa to South Africa. Another ear worm vocal melody, with the addition of female lead on the chorus, excellently balanced atop the insistent yet not frenetic instrumental section.
Speaking of said instrumental section. The guitars and synths are in hi-energy synchronicity. I got an almost Jump by Van Halen feeling, wherein the synths marry the hard rock in a way that shouldn’t work but does so well I ask myself why don’t they all do it this way. This is not similar to Jump though, not in any way, shape or form. The Transits gravelly vocal and beefy rhythm section is entirely theirs – and we have a melody that is both anthemic and endearing.
I have a vid to review, yaaaay! On YouTube now, it’s been put together by the band’s Dom Antelme. What a great piece of work too! We’ve got black and white, some anchoring visuals and some striking statements to support the lyrical content. Aside from that I won’t give any spoilers. Suffice to say the video is highly enjoyable, and suits the song to a tee. In fact, as I type I am watching the number of views going up in real time. Good! These guys deserve the support.
This is again a surefire monster hit for The Transits. This band just knows what it is doing, and delivers consistently. If you like your rock hard, fast and with a commercial edge, these guys are for you. I’ve certainly taken them deep into my lexicon.
MORE, I say! MORE!
